BEN HEINTZ
COMPOSER | LYRICIST | WRITER
Ben Heintz is a Composer/Lyricist, Multi-instrumentalist & Writer committed to telling stories that challenge our perceptions of ourselves, and other people. All of his work is rooted in the idea that it is the responsibility of the artist to be a curator of human culture, and to explore all sides of what makes us people to begin with.
He is a graduate of New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education & Human Development, earning his Bachelor of Music while studying under industry giants such as Tony Award © Winner Ted Sperling (Titanic, The King & I, Light in the Piazza), who he would eventually TA for as a Music Direction & Conducting student.
During his studies, Ben began work as Music Assistant to Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, The Wild Party, Big Fish, Jon & Jen), who has since become a close mentor and friend. While continuing his work under Lippa, Ben has played part in the creation and arrangement of Piano/Vocal Scores, Score Supervision, and production aspects of various musical projects including the recent revival workshop of Big Fish starring Patrick Wilson.
Beyond his writing, Ben often works as a freelance copyist & arranger, his arrangements having been performed and produced in venues all across New York City as well as in cities all over the world, some of which including Sydney, Melbourne, and London.
Current writing projects in development include;
American Game (Book/Music/Lyrics), a new musical which has just concluded a workshop at TUTS in Houston August of 2025, set for NYC development in 2026. Marigold (Book/Music/Lyrics) TBA. Ben is also involved in the early stages of a handful of other musical projects including a new stage adaptation of an animated film (TBA) and various album projects.
